Financial Controller
Agroproduce Management Services (AMS) Ltd is a sustainable business involved in cocoa certification and exports. AMS operates primarily in Cameroon and focuses on combining sustainable farming, large-scale cocoa export operations and supporting local communities.
The Role
This role requires an experienced Finance Controller who has the ability to manage robust accounting processes and controls that lead to the delivery of timely and accurate financial reports of all businesses in Tiko, Cameroon. The ideal candidate for the role has a strong knowledge of the SAP system. The overall objective of the Financial Controller role is to manage transactional accounting, product control, and management reporting. They will be expected to proactively work to continually improve the efficiency of the accounting function.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce timely and accurate financial reports
Maintain an efficient system of accounting records
Improve the Company’s set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk
Enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results
Ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles
Provide regular analysis & manage risk and currency
Lead and manage, coach and mentor a team
Manage activities associated with process improvements, timely reporting and the development of appropriate systems to ensure that financial transactions, policies and procedures are in line with the Company’s objectives
Skills & Experience
An advanced degree in accounting & costing, business, finance
A Minimum of 8 years’ relevant professional experience, ideally in the Commodity Agric sector, trading, food & beverage industry
A thorough understanding of business, financial and accounting principles and practices
Excellent Excel skills: interest in and aptitude for systems, as well as a data-driven approach to problem-solving, is essential
Knowledge of ERP specifically a smaller platform such as Sage Evolution
Experience in managing, coaching and mentoring a team
A high sense of Integrity
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to build trust and relationships with employees and business managers
Strong analytical and presentation skills
Ability to work in an entrepreneurial, multicultural, multidisciplinary team and deliver high quality work within deadlines to meet objectives
Self-starter with attention to detail, ability to manage and prioritise workload, and independently work through issues to propose solutions.
Knowledge OHADA accounting law
Fluency in English and French
